One of my favorite Bassmaster.com columnists, Bernie Schultz, recently wrote about the Olympics and posited the idea that if shooting sports were included in the games, maybe fishing should be there, too. It was an interesting idea.
The math worked in my favor. I claimed the last Toyota Tundra Bassmaster Angler of the Year slot for next year’s Bassmaster Classic. That’s a lot of weight off my shoulders.
The Open on Cayuga Lake is over; that event got me pumped up for the final Elite Series tournament on Oneida Lake later this week. It’ll be a challenge because I have so much riding on the outcome, but hey, that’s what this business is all about.
The Ramada Championship on Oneida Lake is coming up, and I’m holding down slot number 31 in the Toyota Tundra Bassmaster Angler of the Year points race. That’s too close for comfort as far as I’m concerned.
I had a mediocre finish on Lake Champlain last week and then a long drive home to fish a local tournament on the Cooper River with some of my old friends from the Top Rod Bassmasters.
